Can you cut coir matting?
We strongly advise against attempting to cut our standard sized coir doormats or traditional backed coir matting on your own. The edges of the mat will require re-stitching or bonding together to maintain its integrity, as the coir fibres will fall away and cause the mat to fall apart.
If you would like to cut the coir matting, opt for the PVC backed variety, as the PVC backing allows for a clean and precise cut. The fibres are attached to the PVC backing not the other coir fibres. By choosing PVC backed coir, you can use a Stanley knife to cut the matting to your desired dimensions, without causing damage to the natural coir fibres. This method ensures that the integrity of the mat is maintained while customising it to fit your specific requirements.
